Am I the only one who hates the "butterfly will multiply and make clone Akuma if uncaught" thing? It just feels like a completely-contrived and shoehorned-in reason as to why Ladybug has to catch it and makes no sense with how the Akuma concept works. The butterflies are not supposed to be good or evil (according to Astruc), just empowering. It's only Hawkmoth that makes them a threat. So how does the multiplication factor into it?
I think Astruc just never really thought of it until specifically asked by someone and then he had to come up with something regardless of how it fit (since it would no doubt never be referenced again).
I actually thought about that, My theory on why this happens is this, Hawkdaddysaid that Hawkmoth Cause pain and taking away powers was meant for rogue heroes, So by that logic maybe the Akuma Mutiplytion ability was meant for reinforcements when heroes are defeated, That the best explanation I can think of.
After further thought, I think the multiplication idea could work if there was some more logic and reason behind its use. For starters, why can it only be used when Ladybug fails to purify the original? It doesn't do Hawkmoth any good this way, especially since she now knows how to prevent it.
Now, we know Hawkmoth can control and reform the swarms as he desires (like his head construct from "Stoneheart"). Perhaps if he could instead summon swarms from his own power and form them into weaker Clone-Akuma or even simplistic cannon-fodder soldiers (a staple of Tokusatsu and Sentai shows are always the costumed mooks leading up to the day's monster), it would make more sense. The Akuma are still his top creations, but he can now reinforce their strength with additional troops and make things more difficult for Ladybug.
Le Paon will go with the akumitised villan to asist them, and hawkmoth will talk to ladybug and cat noir, like he did in origans, and say something like "I've sent you a visitor. Now things are more fair, 2 on 2!
