When an editor has marked a whole page or a section of the page with the WIP template, please respect them by not editing their work. It's okay to spot errors and plan to fix them later, but it's kind to not interfere with the WIP editor's progress, even if they aren't working on that particular part of the section at the moment. You can edit it once they're done, but let them do what they are working on first.
I just tell you thank you for your edits on the plot section for the Episode Articles. They are really helpful especially in spots we don't notice.
One tip though (I had to learn this myself) we are trying to keep the Plots in present tense we don't use past tense. I noticed today you've been using the past tense in The Mime. And while it's a good thing for some articles and places. We keep the episodes in the present tense with the actions happening in those moments.
It doesn't always get handled perfectly I realize that. I did a tremendous amount of editing myself. But yes this is one tip I had to learn myself when editing the plots. So I just wanted to pass it along to you to help.
Thanks again for looking over the arctiles. Your critical eye with wording and text is much appriciated ^_^
I did look for a posting of the site's editorial standards so I could avoid making such errors. You might consider such a page. It is the "reward" elements that motivate my efforts if that is the purpose of the rewards they have succeded very well. :-)
I do at times see things that could be rewritten but I have so much to manage in my life that I do not have time to spare. I am writing my own screenplay and am in the process of learning. It is "pony" based but no connection to MLP.
I have become a total fan of Ladybug and her friends, you can see my enjoyment level by looking at my Profile page. I send my friends there to help them learn about the series so they will become fans.
A friend of mine makes improved English language subtitles, there is an improved experience if the CC clutter is not there.
I do try and spend time on the Chat but it is hard to get into discussions there and I have not learned the mechanics of that interface, is there a page for that? For example, how do you stay in the chat but let people know you are "away"?
Are there places for open discussions on what the wiki needs and the people who can approve or recruit will be there to provide guidance and feedback on ideas suggested? Some of the stuff on my profile could be on the wiki proper and since it is not I do not know if it is considered not appropriate or was not considered?
Thank you for your feedback, I hope my comments have given you some insight as to who I am.
Thanks for the tip. I have read a lot pages on the edit standards. I also know though from experience what is expected for the plot pages. But it never hurts to learn more it's something we are always doing so your advice is very appriciated.
We appreciate the editing you do. It's a joint effort between everyone on the site that helps grow and mature the wiki. I just wanted you to know because I personally spend a decent amount of time and effort editing the Plots in the Episode Articles. At the moment I have other areas that need more immediate attention but I hope to work on it more in the future. So as another wishing to contribute in this area I was letting you know what I know.
Sounds very nifty that your writing your own screenplay. I too am a writer so it's always great to meet a fellow author. I'm working on a couple of books which I hope to publish in the future. I wish you the best of luck. ^_^
Understandable it isn't always easy to contribute in chat. Don't feel bad. It can take making the effort to chat and try to offer support or ideas during conversations. You really don't need to worry or apologize if you feel you aren't contributing enough in conversations just do what you can and get familiar. Most everyone is friendly and great to talk to. Chat is a place to kick back and enjoy gushing over the show or correspond with others on concerns or thoughts. We don't have a page about chatting in particular other than one for rules and regulations. Chat is a place to just be yourself and have fun getting to know fellow editors and members on the wiki. We have certain rules but we do our best to keep it friendly and easy going as possible.
The "away" happens when you leave the window alone for an extended period of time and don't touch the chat. It lets people know your there but you aren't on the chat page. It kicks in after around 5 or 10 minutes I believe. I hope this helps it's not my area of expertise the person who best can answer any chat questions is user:Sophiedp an excellent person to ask more about that.
Any discussions occur in the forums or blog posts and all of them are open for people to speak their mind and ask things. The best place to ask about the Wiki is Board:Questions and Answers or Board:Wikia Discussion. You can post a thread or find one similar to your question that might provide answers.
My advice is to figure out which area is your expertise what you excel and see what might need contributions. I'm a writer so I do a lot of sentence editing, and also have a lot of experience with screencapping scenes and adding pictures so I've been working there. Figure out where you'd like to help and find out what needs done. The best way to get involved is to find out who is prominently editing a particular section and ask them where you can help them contribute. When I started out I asked around to people who were prominent editors and staff on the wiki. It helped me learn what needed to be done, what was expected and where I could contribute. As got familiar with the wiki I discovered what areas needed help and I started working from there. It takes consideration and a lot of trial and error. There are plenty of places that could use fine tuning and the wiki is always expanding and growing.
However I must say that the wiki is pretty quiet at the moment because Miraculous Ladybug Season 2 has not premiered yet. I believe when it does premier this place will be extremely busy with editors and there will be a lot areas that will need team effort to complete. That's what this wiki takes team efforts from everyone.
Your page is very cool especially all you've written there. You seem like your good at analyzing and conspiracy theories. And it's very well put together. Unless a staff member says otherwise I believe it's good. One thing though if you have anything that is a spoiler to the next season then please use the spoiler tag. It's really up to you what you post on your profile because it's your area. As long as it does not violate the rules of the wiki or Fandom Wikis in general I don't think there is any problems.
I know that the wiki is idle but as I said before it will be far busier when the new episodes come. Usually this is what will happen with a fandom unless people have time and want to put the effort they won't really get involved in the wiki until the new episodes appear. It renews peoples interest in the show. And really at the moment there isn't a lot to do but wait for the new episodes. So it's understandable why activity is slow. The staff do what they can in the mean time but at the moment things are quiet.
Never be afraid to ask any staff members for advice on any concern you have. We are all really friendly, lovely people and will be happy to help in any way we can.
Your most welcome. I hope to see more of your edits in the future. Really we are all grateful for the help. The combined effort of every editor on this website is what keeps this wiki flourishing and growing.
I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with me. I did take some time to read your profile, I believe it has content of value and I will be sure to make use of it.
I am a big fan of the show. I came to it by an unusual path. I started with MLP, SU, TTG and then I met online a new friend that was making improved subtitles for LB. I had no knowledge of the show so he sent me an episode and the subtitle file. And the rest is history. I am a dedicated anime fan and always listen in Japanese with subs so I just went with French audio and my friends improved subs. I would be glad to discuss them with you if you are interested.
You seem to be very dedicated to the structure of the wiki. I do have some interest there, my profession was, before I retired, Software Quality Assurance. I will fix structure when I see it needs repair. However, I am more interested in the show, in discussing the various efforts the writers and animators have put into this beautiful romantic comedy. This is what I want to discuss, to talk about with other fans.
I use my profile page as a place to collect information. You mention that things are quite, all are waiting for season 2. However, I do not see any places on the wiki where there is a lot of talk about the wonderful “squee” moments from season 1, and there are so many! If you would care to talk I enjoy that a lot.
You mentioned that you are writing but failed to mention what the topic is. My screenplay is a work in progress, I have commissioned some scenes that I design and have an artist make it come to life. If you look at the header on my twitter page [ge_three9s] you can see an example. If you can, I would be interested in hearing about your creativity efforts.
There are also elements of the wiki I would like to discuss. So, if you have the time and can tolerate my opinions, they are many, I would enjoy future contact.
It's no problem I appreciate hearing your opinion as well. Aww thank you. I like having structure and some kind of them in the way I present things. I used to run a fan site of my own on Freewebs when it was still a big domain for free websites. So I enjoy having a good presentation and really talking about what I like.
Very cool! I am actually a MLP fan myself but I heard about the show from a friend of mine online in the Danny Phantom section of DeviantART a lot of my favorite artists were doing fan works and I gave it a try. I absolutely fell in love with it after a couple of episodes and haven't been able to put it down since. Ah that makes sense that you are a fan of the subs rather than the dubs. I like both personally and sometimes its easier for me not to have to read the text on the bottom of the screen so I'll prefer English. But I can respect how you listen to the original audio before the english version.
Thanks. Just call me a bit of perfectionist. I also have a knack for computers and I know quite a bit of HTML coding although I'm still learning how to manage it since the coding has gotten a lot more advance since I was younger. Wow that's very cool that you actually worked with structure. If you ever have anything you'd like to contribute or ideas to help improve the coding that's always appreciated. The coding for wiki is different from regular HTML I've noticed so it's still tricky to learn.
Oh most definitely the animation is quite incredible I notice it more and more with the screencaps I've been making. I also find the plot of the stories, the heart, and the characters one of the biggest draw ins for me. I'm sure there are many who'd love to talk about that.
If there isn't a place where people discuss them then perhaps you can start a thread? That's the best way to get people involved. It really all depends on what is being discussed though certain sections and areas are dedicated to certain topics. Like for instance I'm really interested in the Alya and Volpina thread there's a lot of debate and consideration of what could happen. Of course it's always fun to talk about those special moments. I'm sure if you started a thread it would get others involved.
I'm aspiring to be a young adult and children's author. The truth is I don't really discuss my original ideas or stories online. If I do it's fairly vague. I'll say this much it is a fantasy/adventure novel kind of styled like C.S. Lewis or J.R.R. Tolkien. And I have another that is styled in an alternate world where certain issues from ours have become dangerously extreme in another world. I don't really talk about them entirely partly because I don't want some one taking my ideas and also so my ideas don't end up in another person's head and they unintentionally use them in their own novel. I hope you understand. That is very cool that you have an artist for your screenplay.
Feel free to ask me if you have any question. Or if we're ever on chat at the same time feel free to share there. I saw your asking Mari as well and she's definitely a good source for information on the show or just to talk with. I've always enjoyed conversations with her. I shall see you around.
Sorry my messages are long I'm a writer so that's kind of how it goes.
I am a Narnia and LOTR fan. My Screenplay is ponies and SF. But nothing about MLP.
I did think up an MLP story that explains the origin of the Crystal ponies. It is epic but I do not have time for it so I will only give it away. If you are interested we could talk about it and when we are done talking you would have all the info.
Have you done anything with stylesheets?
I learned how to play music on my Profile page today. When I learn a new feature I put it on my sandbox page. Do you have one of those?
You have a list of favorite episodes but I want to make a comment and it is my opinion so I ask permission to speak. Sometimes I speak too freely and people are not pleased. xD
I understand being close to your ideas. No problem.
Do you have opinions on SU and TTG?
What tools do you use for writing? Is any of your work on any of the fan fic blogs?
Opinion on Peridot?
You see, I talk a lot and think a lot. I could have a conversation on any of the topics I just mentioned.
This series, a wonderful romantic comedy, it is so beautiful, so many squee moments. Are you an over the top fan or just satisfied in watch as opposed to spreading it to everyone?
OK, done for now. Hope you keep the conversation going.
I am starting a new area in my Profile where I identify the literary purpose for each character. I want to be able to talk about them by name and tell others about them as if they were real.
Narnia and Lord of the Rings are two of my biggest passions. Ooh that sounds cool. I love horses either way.
If you'd like to talk about it that would be cool. I have been looking for a story on the Crystal ponies origins personally. I find their history really interesting.
Had to look it up. I think I have used stylesheets in the past. Although I'm honestly unfamilair with them.
I have a page where I keep random links and other things I need. I call it User:Linariel/Useful and I do have my one sandbox when I can experiment with things it's in there.
Thanks so much for understanding. I just really am trying to keep my story as original as I can. So I don't like to really talk about it online. Not really cause I don't trust people but anyone can see this post so I don't feel comfortable.
Hmmm I'm not really sure what SU stands for but I'm fairly certain TTG stands for Teen Titans Go. Which personally I'm not into because it takes away from the wonderful story and detailed character development in the original Teen Titans show. Wait is SU stand for Steven Universe? I really haven't watched much of it yet but I really want to in the future it looks like a lot of fun. One of my favorite series is Gravity Falls. I'm also a huge Danny Phantom fan.
I use pencil and paper to jot down ideas and lots of my writing is on my computer. I've read a lot of books that help me out with my writing like Make a Scene. Yes actually I go by the same name and Fanfiction.net and I post some of my work there. Although I haven't updated it in a while mainly because my life has been rather busy and I've been focusing on my own writing. If you'd like to read any of it I'd be glad for your opinion.
Peridot is a green gem but I'm guessing that's not what your talking about. Are you talking about an SU character cause again I haven't watched enough to form a real opinion.
I love the Miraculous Ladybug series it's honestly one of my favorites of all time. I wouldn't go so far to say I'm a over top fan or a just satisfied. I'm probably in the middle. But I'm closer to top then average. I'm definitely a big fan!
They are fictional characters but they definitely have realistic personalities. They are really relatable and fun to read about.
Thanks btw for understanding it took a while. This week has been crazy busy most of the time.
Now, perhaps you can see why I think Peridot is the best-animated character ever, anywhere.
I put my email address in the top of the source in your sandbox as a comment. Use it if you would like to discuss the origin of the Crystal ponies.
I learned HTML and style sheets when I volunteered to do a web page for the place I worked. I wanted to understand what I did so I made an effort to build the website using just Notepad as the editor. Nothing fancy. I learned a lot. I will try to answer any questions you may have for editing here on the wiki. As I learn I put stuff in my sandbox and use it on my profile.
My path to here was MLP to SU to TTG and when a friend told me they were doing custom subtitles for LB I got interested and the rest is history. When I discovered SU I watched all the episodes online. I had never heard of Teen Titans so when I discovered TTG it was a lot of fun and I liked Raven and Starfire as over the top funny and Robin was a very motivational character. A lot of romantic connections in that show. I did discover that fans of TT did not appreciate what happened to their show and being replaced by TTG made them angry.
If you have fiction online email me a link and I will check it out.
I am also very busy, in the process of retiring to Florida. I am disposing of a lot of stuff, including a too big anime collection. I will be focusing on my screenplay. The header on my twitter page, ge_three9s has art I commissioned for a scene in my screenplay. I have about 25 or more images and about 15 characters. I am learning as I go. I will be happy to share lessons I have learned if you are interested.
When you write about the characters and stories from the show I do not get the feeling you are seeing it the same way I do. To me, it is all about relationships. The villains and battles are there to give an episode a story arc and allow time for the relationship between LB and CN to develop. It also allows for redemption of the character that was used as the episode villain. Some of them were actually very charming in their own way. We also have part 1 and 3 of the episode to build relationships between M and A and between them and other characters or between other characters themselves. It is a romantic comedy and almost all of the characters are very charming or designed to be redeemable in the future. I see some posts where fans are worried about a character within the show but do not seem to realize that their concerns speak well of the writers and animators. Any show or movie or book that I really like, the characters are very real to me.
Here is a test of imagination. It only works with a character you really can feel for, compassion or squees or more. Sit in a chair and imagine that such a character is behind you. You can feel their presence, almost hear them breathe. Almost hear their footsteps. Kind of magical if you can do it. Now, when I am writing my screenplay I must be able to know what my characters are thinking, are feeling. If you looked at the header on my twitter page you can see a lot. What Mesos is seeing as he is standing at the door is really beautiful. Everything in that scene was designed by me, that is, the placement of the characters, what they were doing, what was in the room. All this information provided to the artist.
You may find your enjoyment to LB increasing if we discuss elements in detail. Look at my profile page where I share my thoughts. I welcome your feedback.
